Week #76 I Don't Bless The Rains Down In Africa... At Least Not This Week.

Hey everyone! I trust you've all been well since I last sent out an Email? I just wanted to start by saying thanks for the emails and the messages I've received lately, I appreciate them a lot.  But let's get into it… Tuesday: It was raining a lot so everyone canceled with us and no one was on the streets. We stayed home and studied, rested, cleaned, and watched some church movies. Wednesday: Because of the rain the last few days we woke up with our whole house inside of a cloud. It was pretty cool! We didn't want to stay home so we went out in the rain on our bikes, not a great combo, especially since all the roads are dirt (mud). We managed to get 7 lessons and a member to join us for a couple of them. One of which was with Boipelo, our progressing friend. It was a good lesson but we're having a hard time getting her to commit to a baptismal date. Thursday: I guess I should've mentioned earlier that Motswana people are terrified of the rain. If it rains they w...

Week #75 Revival In The Rain

Image
I feel like I just wrote an email yesterday but here we go again! Tuesday: After weekly planning we had 6 lessons in a row. They all went well and it was very refreshing to have a productive day since last week was a bit tough. Wednesday: We waited a couple hours for the ZL's to take us to DCM but it ended up just getting canceled. Once we got into the area we contacted a few friends and had a lesson with Kutlo. He's a brother who was taught once by the previous missionaries, he's very humble, hopefully he can progress.  We went finding for a few hours since there was absolutely nothing to do, it wasn't very successful. We knocked on one house and they told us to come in, we did. As we entered, there were 4 18-25 year old men playing fifa on a ps3. Before saying anything to us, or us to them, we watched them play an entire match, It was very strange. We finally introduced ourselves, gave them some pamphlets and arranged to come back. Thursday: Almost all of our lessons ...

Week #74 The Slowest, Fastest Week.

This week was very quick, it was also pretty tiring. This area has been pretty run through to be honest. Sometimes it feels like we're trying to squeeze water out of a rock… Tuesday: My weekly planning from last Sunday had 12 lessons lined up, back to back, I was very excited for today. We ended up only having like 4, for some reason people here just love to cancel for no reason at all… very frustrating. We were teaching some members when Elders Kelley and Kerago showed up from francistown, Kelley leaves tomorrow so he was saying goodbyes.  On our way home we passed the branch president's son, Brooklyn, we took turns racing him on bikes, 3 weeks of practice definitely gave us the advantage. Kelley and Kerago stayed at our place and played games. Wednesday: We got up early and went to Gabs for Zone Conference. It was pretty good, there were some good talks and many lessons learned. Our zone sang a hymn against my will, I hate singing, but it's better than singing a solo I su...

Week #73 Bushwork, Broken Pipes, Blessings, And The Big Deportation Question.

Photos and Videos from the week: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ ZjNNevFrAougPFw2A Hello again. It seems like the weeks keep flying by! Tuesday: I made chapati and stew while Elder Nakale weekly planned for us. We ended up staying at the flat until 4:00, waiting for president Pule to come fix our broken water pipe (preventing us from using any water) and our front and back doors. We taught a handful of lessons today, but the best was with the Rabakoko family (members). We read D&C 8 with them since that's where they are in their family study. We had a great discussion on it and the blessings that come through prayer, faith, magnifying gifts, and the priesthood. Wednesday: We had a funny district council to start the morning, in Elder Machisu's prayer he asked that “we can work smart and not hard”. There may have been a few laughs during his prayer We taught 9 or 10 lessons today, they were all decent lessons that the Spirit was present in. The only problem is that we don't r...
