Week #76 I Don't Bless The Rains Down In Africa... At Least Not This Week.
Hey everyone! I trust you've all been well since I last sent out an Email? I just wanted to start by saying thanks for the emails and the messages I've received lately, I appreciate them a lot.
But let's get into it…
Tuesday:
It was raining a lot so everyone canceled with us and no one was on the streets. We stayed home and studied, rested, cleaned, and watched some church movies.
Wednesday:
Because of the rain the last few days we woke up with our whole house inside of a cloud. It was pretty cool! We didn't want to stay home so we went out in the rain on our bikes, not a great combo, especially since all the roads are dirt (mud).
We managed to get 7 lessons and a member to join us for a couple of them. One of which was with Boipelo, our progressing friend. It was a good lesson but we're having a hard time getting her to commit to a baptismal date.
Thursday:
I guess I should've mentioned earlier that Motswana people are terrified of the rain. If it rains they will refuse to meet with you because they think they'll get sick, you'll get sick, or someone will die.
Anyways, we managed to catch a 5 hour break in the rain to go teach some lessons. Since we had to come home early I called every member in our area and only 1 managed to schedule with us. It was basically the same story with our friends.
Friday:
We had our district council at 8:00am followed by interviews with President Walker. He gave me some really great insights and challenges which I'm excited about. It's crazy how he's already giving me advice for when I go home, I feel like I just got here.
We went finding the rest of the day and found 8 people and got the numbers of about 4 or 5 more. Hopefully at least one of them can progress.
Saturday:
One of the guys we found yesterday got very angry at us when we came back for the time which he had scheduled with us for today. He claimed that he thought “we weren't serious”. It was pretty hilarious, we tried our best to be christlike…
We taught a couple lessons and then biked far for lunch. The ZL’s picked us up and brought us to the chapel for ward coordination. President Pule shambocked the members so hopefully we can have more productive meetings now. I've never seen someone so passionate about missionary work, it's amazing.
Sunday:
Our friend Boipelio came to church and stayed afterwards for the 2 baptisms. I was praying she'd feel the Spirit as she watched and then President Pule slammed this kid in the water, splashing the surrounding kids. Then as he brought him back up they slipped and the kid fell back in… so much for prayer. It was pretty funny though and I think she still felt the Spirit, at least from the first baptism.
Nakale and I both ate it on our bikes on the way home since we didn't have any lights. But we're okay, no injuries.
Monday:
All the Elders of Kanye went to Gabs in 2 cars. Since Manley and Bitton go home tomorrow it means I will be Elder Lemphane’s (from lesotho) companion until transfers. I was with Asi and Nakale the whole day, we got haircuts, food, a little shopping, and then back to kanye with Lemphane as well.
All 4 of us are now in Nakale's and my flat. Should be fun for a few days.
Conclusion:
The week was pretty productive numbers wise, especially considering the rain, and meetings, and interviews. Hopefully we can finish out the transfer strong! Transfer news is on Wednesday and the transfer is on Friday so we'll see what happens.
Love y'all
Elder Miller
