Week #49 Wizards, Witnesses, And Wheelies

Image
As expected by both you and me, I am exhausted now that it is time to write this email. I’ll do my best to share something interesting from this week. Tuesday: We taught a handful of lessons today and also went finding for an hour or so. We were able to find a potentially interested household but I'm not sure tbh. We had our typical Tuesday branch coordination meeting as well. It was our district leader, Elder Sackie's birthday so we went to his flat to end the night. We popped in for a few minutes to sing happy birthday and give him a cake and some mango juice (necessities) with the other elders as well as the AP'S. Wednesday: Karp and I had a nice visit to the dentist this morning… it was much nicer than expected and the dentist was great. Elder Pirie (AP/ trainer for 2 weeks) joined us for the day. When we pulled up to one of our lessons the sister was just going to get firewood so we offered to help. On the way back to her house I stepped on a huge thorn that went throu...

Week #48 Prayer Warriors And Prophets

Image
Yo, welcome back… let's get this thing going… Tuesday: Weekly planned Went to the police station to pay Elder Karps ticket. Turns out they just renovated 4 houses into a station which is kinda sad Taught a nice lesson to a member referral but she was determined that “her prophet” prophet bushedi (or something like that) is the true prophet because he performs “miracles”. Prophets tend to bring many problems around here. Taught two cousins, Kaona and Precious, of a recent convert that were really cool. Apparently she has more cousins that we can go and teach Wednesday: Went finding for an hour and found a really cool Mom that I hope we can keep teaching Taught 7 more back to back lessons Taught 2 new cousins, Music and Bogati of the same recent convert from yesterday Started teaching our newest RC's (Lucia) sister, Onalethata Thursday: We virtually joined MLC (Mission Leadership Council) at the Youngs with Sister Welker. We learned a lot, it was nice! Elder Karp and I went to a ...

Week #47 Packages, Planning, Pap, (Sour) Patch Kids, Pickleball, Palapye, And Patience

Yo, good to be back, this week was a long one but there were a few highlights for sure. Let's get this started. Tuesday: We weekly planned Taught a handful of people ward Correlation meeting  Pap, spinach, and beef stew for dinner. It was a very nice botswana dish prepared by Elder Karp Wednesday: We had a slam packed day scheduled but a lot were canceled. We still managed to teach 7 lessons today. We taught Teboka, she’s been taught everything by previous missionaries and a little by me but we stopped teaching her due to some personal problems she was having. She seems like she’s doing great now! Re-scheduled One’s baptismal date for the 25th of August met a FB referral that met missionaries in 1996. She seems very cool! Thursday: We met a maruti (pastor) at our chapel and read the intro of the BOM with him, he seemed interesting… Tried a restaurant chain called Wimpy, the burgers taste exactly like the name… despite being very expensive. Government gave us a great referral of a s...

Week #46 Transfers, Service, And Sickness

Image
Due to some sort of illness that I contracted yesterday I'm not feeling 100% but I'll share the highlights of each day! Tuesday: We had a district council today. The Youngs (Senior couple) both gave a training. One on temples and the other on the Spirit. It was a great district council! We met at the mall as a district and ate some nxa chicken as a departing lunch since transfer news is tomorrow and the transfers are on friday Wednesday: Elder Thomas (one companion I was in a trio with for the first two weeks of my mission) came with Karp and I and Santos went with Thomas’ companion for exchanges. A great lesson with Arifa, she said she feels peace as she reads the BOM When meeting with a RC we played Uno and didn't really know what message to share after. Elder Thomas pulled out 3 nephi 7:8… iykyk. The way he acted out what the Scripture was talking about was hilarious and caught us very off guard. Somehow he turned it into quite a spiritual thought. Thursday: We had servi...
