Week #47 Packages, Planning, Pap, (Sour) Patch Kids, Pickleball, Palapye, And Patience

Yo, good to be back, this week was a long one but there were a few highlights for sure. Let's get this started.

Tuesday:

  • We weekly planned

  • Taught a handful of people

  • ward Correlation meeting

  • Pap, spinach, and beef stew for dinner. It was a very nice botswana dish prepared by Elder Karp

Wednesday:

  • We had a slam packed day scheduled but a lot were canceled. We still managed to teach 7 lessons today.

  • We taught Teboka, she’s been taught everything by previous missionaries and a little by me but we stopped teaching her due to some personal problems she was having. She seems like she’s doing great now!

  • Re-scheduled One’s baptismal date for the 25th of August

  • met a FB referral that met missionaries in 1996. She seems very cool!

Thursday:

  • We met a maruti (pastor) at our chapel and read the intro of the BOM with him, he seemed interesting…

  • Tried a restaurant chain called Wimpy, the burgers taste exactly like the name… despite being very expensive.

  • Government gave us a great referral of a sweet mother who seems like she may be interested

  • Got a package from home (delivered by the Herreras), many hidden gems in there. especially the sour patch kids

Friday:

  • We drove to Palapye to pick up a new addition to our zone, Elder Opheikens! He’s very funny and we had a fun drive back to francistown

  • Met with Teboka again, followed up by the 1996 FB referral (Tshenolo).

  • Found an inactive member that was very concerned that if he came back we may cut off his dreads. I assured him we wouldn't

Saturday:

  • We had a great district council in the morning. I gave a 10 minute talk on hope and patience and how they relate.

  • We had a lot of lessons cancel but we still did our best to go and meet with other people despite our very small teaching pool.

  • We taught the Louis family, and although they had a million questions and we got sidetracked a couple times I think it went well for the most part.

Sunday:

  • Today we had one friend come to church, and it was only for the last 6 minutes of sacrament meeting. Our area is so far from the chapel that no one wants to come. Gerald is very tough.

  • Most lessons canceled

  • We made chicken, spinach, and Madombi (steamed bread/ dumplings). another botswana dish and it was very nice.

Monday:

  • I got a haircut, went grocery shopping, and then headed to the Young's

  • We played Settlers of Catan, Skull King, Cover your Assets, Pickleball etc. It’s always a lot of fun.

  • The Youngs made us a divine meal as always. They are a huge bonus to serving in francistown zone

Spiritual Thought:

I shared these scriptures as part of my district council talk. When we think celestial and put things into perspective we truly realize that things aren't that bad and that there are greater blessings in store.

D&C 122 (the whole chapter is great and you should read it but here's one verse)

122:8 8 The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?

Conclusion:

I love you, God loves you, I’m praying for you, go out and kill it this week :)

P.S Letsile Tebogo won the olympic gold medal for men's 200m, Botswana's first ever Gold Medal!!! The president is declaring it a holiday and giving everyone the day off tomorrow!
