Week #79 This Little Light of Mine...
Hey everyone, hopefully you had a good week?! We had a decent week, nothing too crazy.
A lot photos and videos from the week: https://photos.app.goo.gl/
Tuesday:
We had a few lessons, a lot of cancellations, and a member meal at sister Teto's. She cooked very good Madombi and beef stew. We got to meet with one of our friends who's on date, Kelvin. He always wants us to have 2 hour lessons with him but we tell him that we have to go see other people.
Nakale’s tire popped so he rode on Asi's handlebars the whole evening, it was hilarious!
Wednesday:
We had about 1 million cancellations today. We'd show up at their house and there would be no one home. We met with a few members and a couple other lessons but today was pretty unproductive.
We came home and I cooked some madombi while Nakale cooked chicken, it was nxa.
Thursday:
We walked in the area today since Nakale's tire was still blown. We taught a handful of lessons and then got rained in at the chapel for an hour. We went back out and got to meet with Kelvin, he’s a very elect man from Zambia and remembers everything he was taught 15 years ago by the missionaries.
As we were walking to a DA with a member, another member named Ben started walking with us and ended up joining the meal. We chased a tswana chicken and eventually caught it. That was after Asi dislocated his shoulder trying to tackle it
Ben finished all of the Sisters' flour to make madombi, after hours of work he just ruined it and we didn't even eat anything. It was our curfew so we went home, but luckily the members still had enough dough that they could cook the madombi for themselves without Ben destroying it.
Friday:
We had “zone service” in the morning which really just consisted of 20 minutes of picking up trash on the street. That was then followed by 2 kgotla (town-hall) meetings that lasted hours and hours and hours and hours and hours.
We got a bangin district lunch at Jimmy's afterwards. It was also fun to catch up with my son Mathias, he's hilarious.
We went out into the area during a huge rainstorm and contacted some people. We didn't have any lessons since people couldn't let us in due to our clothes being sopping wet.
Saturday:
We left the flat around 7:30 so we could go have a morning lesson with our elect Zambian friend, Kelvin.
We had a very funny DCM after, we sang “This little light of mine” as the opening hymn. There were some very interesting area reports.
We had a few lessons and then back to the chapel for ward coordination. We had a DA with the sisters at a members home. We cooked the best Pap I've ever had, with morogo, chakalaka, and wors.
Also, Boipelo said that she wants me to baptize her next sunday so that's exciting!
Sunday:
We had 8 friends come to church today which was amazing! And it was the first time for 4 of them. We came home to change, eat, and study, then we went into the area.
We visited members and recent converts for the rest of the day. We wanted to keep up with our tradition of Sunday chapati night but we had a dilemma… NO CARROTS. We made a deal with some of the young men that they could ride our bikes to their house to get carrots, it was a win win for everyone.
Adolphson and Leavitt stayed at our flat and enjoyed some nice food.
Monday:
We woke up at 3:30am today and drove to Kgale Hill in Gabs. We did a sunrise hike with the whole district, it was very fun. It was also the first time doing it since my second P-Day in the field (about a year and a half).
We all went to a Cafe for breakfast, did a little hunting for root beer and Reece's peanut butter cups, brought Elder Leavitt to a doctor and then hit up a few China shops.
We came back to Kanye, did a little grocery shopping, and a few rounds of snooker.
Conclusion:
Thanks for tuning in and good job if you made I through the email
Stay blessed,
Elder Miller
