Week #46 Transfers, Service, And Sickness
Due to some sort of illness that I contracted yesterday I'm not feeling 100% but I'll share the highlights of each day!
Tuesday:
We had a district council today. The Youngs (Senior couple) both gave a training. One on temples and the other on the Spirit. It was a great district council!
We met at the mall as a district and ate some nxa chicken as a departing lunch since transfer news is tomorrow and the transfers are on friday
Wednesday:
Elder Thomas (one companion I was in a trio with for the first two weeks of my mission) came with Karp and I and Santos went with Thomas’ companion for exchanges.
A great lesson with Arifa, she said she feels peace as she reads the BOM
When meeting with a RC we played Uno and didn't really know what message to share after. Elder Thomas pulled out 3 nephi 7:8… iykyk. The way he acted out what the Scripture was talking about was hilarious and caught us very off guard. Somehow he turned it into quite a spiritual thought.
Thursday:
We had service at the F-Town chapel. We loaded up a few truckloads of broken tiles and dust (they got new tile flooring). It took two hours which sucked and on the last load Elder Young came to help but when we got to the landfill they had closed
We had a dinner appointment with the Monarch Elders and Gerald Sisters at the Mosweswe’s home (The family of one of my sons!). The food was amazing and it was really fun. It was also our final district dinner
Friday:
We met at the Youngs before we drove to Palapye for transfers. They made us some deep fried scones which were divine
I drove Santos, Gibbs, and Thomas halfway to Gabs, Palapye, and dropped them with the AP’s. The AP’s were 2 hours late so Gibbs and I did a little shopping. I drove back to F-Town with Elder Ndambuki. All my pickleballers have left me :(
Elder Karp and I watched a couple episodes of some series called “the district” while eating dinner. It follows a missionary district around… anything for entertainment nowadays
Saturday:
There was still dust everywhere at the F-Town chapel so we cleaned up for an hour
We met a FB referral at a college she was cool. Some guy (Theo) walked up to us, introduced himself, and then joined us. We're going to keep meeting with him now. The campus has some potential.
I did an interview for F-Town elders and she asked me to baptize her tomorrow which was kinda crazy. I actually taught her my first day in F-Town when we were double covering.
On our way home we stopped at a petrol station and some drunk/high/somehow intoxicated guy came up trying to sell Pap whisks. I told him I only have 2.25 BWP (0.225 CAD) and he said it was shap. He also kept telling me how much he loves me which was funny but also slightly unsettling. At least I bagged the pap whisk though.
Sunday:
Karp and I woke up a little sick today, my first time on the mission.
Lucia was confirmed at church today which was awesome!!!
Then we went to F-Town and I baptized Abigail, the sister I interviewed yesterday.
We taught quite a few lessons today, and found some cool people. Karp instantly fell asleep everytime we got in the car.
Ended the night by contacting my boy Government and his friend Koketso
Monday:
We brought Elder Young's car to the panel beaters this morning since he took our car to Gabs. They weren't ready for the car so we turned around and went to the mall.
Got some nice lunch at the mall, karp got a nice cut and then we went to the Youngs/Allens. I played some guitar and learned a couple songs. Since I’m not feeling well I took a nap, ate the amazing Italian food the Allens cooked for us, played some skull King, and then one game of pickleball.
Spiritual thought:
On the other hand, words can celebrate victory, be hopeful and encouraging. They can prompt us to rethink, reboot, and redirect our course. Words can open our minds to truth.
Ronald A. Rasband (Words Matter)
I love this quote for two main reasons. Firstly, it teaches about the importance of Scripture study. Not only does daily scripture study give us new knowledge and invite the Spirit into our lives, even though those are two very substantial blessings. But we also learn that Scripture study will help us reset and re-align our will and our course with that of God's.
We can also see the blessings spoken of in (2 Nephi 32:3)
3 Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
The other truth that we learn from this quote is that OUR words also matter. Do your words encourage others, do they cause others to feel joy, do they offer hope? We should all be more careful about the things we say to others… at least I should.
Our words can create love, happiness, and joy. As President Russel M. Nelson invited us, we should be "Peacemakers”.
I invite you all to study the words of Christ daily and they will direct, assist, and answer the questions of life. I also invite you to be more intentional with the things you say and reflect on the differences you see in your life.
Conclusion:
I love you all, I'm glad you could tune in for a little update. Have a great week
