Week #45 Racing With Purpose... Speedy Servant... Faith In The Fast Lane... Accelerated Blessings... I Could Go On.

Image
I swear these get harder and harder to write each week but here we go… Tuesday: After driving for about 1.5 weeks without a license plate on the car we decided that it was about time to buy a new one, especially before our trip to Gabs tomorrow. Almost every lesson was canceled today, we had our first lesson and our last lesson. Between those lessons we contacted a lot of people and also had our ward coordination meeting. We ended The night by packing for Gabs tomorrow and I cooked Madombi (setswana steamed bread, they also call them dumplings here).  Wednesday: We picked up the Monarch elders and took them to a friend's house for a blessing, then we all met at the Youngs. After sorting out travel plans we hopped in the car and took off for Gabs, after loading up on food ofc. It was me, Santos, Thomas, Dos Santos, and Egburhe. Just before arriving a cop pulled me over and almost gave me what would've been my second ticket ever. It was going to be 1500 Pula but we gave him 300 a...

Week #44 Govy, Goals, And Unexpected Grabs

Image
This week felt pretty slow but our area and zone actually did really great! Here's a little update. Tuesday: Our allotment came in today instead of yesterday so we quickly went grocery shopping in the morning and then came back home for weekly planning. We had a few contacts and about 4 lessons, plus our branch coordination meeting. The highlight of the day was when we went to teach Donald’s (AKA. Government, Govy, Government of Botswana) friend. While we were there he did “the challenge”, where he starts doing some crazy belly bouncing/ dancing. For those of you wondering, Govy is a big dude and a comedian. I think he's 19. Make sure to check out the video in the link. Wednesday: We got out early today and got 2 lessons back to back. After that we whipped over to Gallo Mall in the city for lunch and then we returned to Gerald. However, while we were walking back to the car some girl that Santos used to teach walked up and said hi to him. Then she looked at me, called me “Nyash...

Week #43 Return To Crocodile Chaos

Hey everyone, glad to be sending out another update. This week was a little crazy and is a bit of a blur but I'll try my best.  Tuesday: We bought a new number plate since ours fell off yesterday. The new one fell off and I don't want to buy another one, we’ll see how long I can go without one since there's one on the front anyways. We weekly planned and then only got a couple lessons today. We went teaching with a RC named Donald (better known as Govy or Government). He's infamous on the streets of Gerald so we soon had a band of 5 guys walking with us and they wouldn't go away. It was kinda fun but also distracting. We also moved a new TV into the chapel today. We don't even have a working mic so the branch really needs to prioritize. The AP’s got here tonight so we did in person call ins with them. Wednesday: We picked up Elder Pirie (AP, and also my former trainer for 2 weeks) from the Monarch elders flat. We got some lunch and planned and then we went out f...

Week #41 Donkey Cart Chronicles

Image
Here’s the rundown of the week. Tuesday: After our weekly planning and some bomb chicken and rice from Elder Santos we met one of the Senior couple missionaries at a school. They teach at a lot of schools and wanted us to come watch and give them feedback as well as interact with the kids. They were teaching 250 14-16 year olds, it was really good. At the end we were saying hi to the kids and they swarmed us. It was crazy but so fun! I definitely want to go to another school with them. The ironic thing was that they were teaching about self discipline compared with external discipline and then some kid went outside with the guidance counselor during the presentation. He grabbed a big branch off the tree and started smacking the kid in the butt. We taught a few lessons today, had some good contacts, and our missionary coordination meeting. At one of the lessons today we helped the mom of these two sisters that are on date, One and Moshinga. We helped her section her dough into pans, she...
