Week #80 The Case Of The Dead Duck.

I procrastinated typing this email, but to keep the 80 week streak alive here we go.
Tuesday:
The Pule's (district president) came to our flat and fixed our broken sink while we weekly planned. We went out for lunch and then came back home just in time for the water guy to refill our jojo (our water supply).
We reviewed the baptismal interview questions with Boipelo and watched a talk from President Nelson. Then we watched the same talk with a Recent Convert named Mpho, near Boipelo.
We met with Kelvin and had a good lesson, he always has some very interesting/ funny questions. We visited a few more recent converts and then had a DA with a member. Madombi and beef stew as usual.
Wednesday:
The ZL's picked us up at 7:00am and we went to Gabs for our Zone conference, all of Botswana was there. The theme was “The Power and Authority of Your Calling”, it was really good and there were many things I learned.
We stopped to buy screen protectors on our way out of Gabs. One of the ZL's got pulled over for overtaking illegally. They gave him a juicy ticket despite his best emergency bathroom acting skills
We taught 2 lessons once we got back into Kanye.
Thursday:
Today was a lot of running around, finding, and looking through the PMG for people to start reaching again. We had a final lesson with Boipelo before her baptism. We also had an amazing lesson with Mma Kaone. She'll be baptized as well as her kids who have been coming to church. She just needs to resolve her relationship predicament.
Friday:
I was with Elder Leavitt in his area (my former area) on exchanges for the day. We had some lessons and in between I took us to my recent converts and members I worked a lot with when I was there.
We had a lot of fun, we’re also the only 2 Canadians in the mission so that was cool.
Saturday:
Asi's bike broke so we had to walk today. We left the flat around 8 and got to Kelvin's by 9. We finished teaching him the last principles before his baptism tomorrow. He was a catholic priest for 22 years but is so prepared for the gospel. He was even taught 15 years ago (I think I mentioned that before)!!!
We walked to spar for lunch, fatcakes with mince and a ginger beer. We street contacted along the way since it was about an hour. We street contacted on the way back to the chapel as well. We had ward coordination and then taught a few lessons afterwards.
Sunday:
We had 2 baptisms, Kelvin and Boipelo, they both went great! They were both so happy to be baptized and have such great spirits about them.
Just before the baptismal service started a family came to the chapel with a dead duck and said I ran it over with the bakkie on the way to church. I told them we'd talk to them after church, which we did. The duck was dead but most definitely not run over by a truck, it was completely intact and fine. They also said they didn't see me hit it but I was the “only car that passed by that area”. The owner also happened to not be present and they refused to give us his number. There was a large crowd of people and kids from the church gathering around since the people were arguing with us in setswana. They also tried to charge us 500 pula For the duck which I could buy a Pig with.
All in all, everyone knew they were trying to scam us for 500 pula but luckily we got off the hook. Definitely not how I expected my sabbath to go.
Monday:
Just relaxed all day and tried to recover Nakale's botched haircut that he gave himself. There were no cars in Kanye so we didn't leave the flat all day… we need groceries so bad.
Conclusion:
Love y'all, have a good week!
