Elder Asi had some night terrors that left Nakale terrified.  Had some fire meals this week. Sloppy Joes, Chapati with chicken stew, madombi and beef stew, etc. Some Ntate (old man) started singing a setswana gospel song in the middle of our lesson Had a district service project cleaning someone's plot. Had a dinner appointment at the branch president's home with the sisters. Taught Mma Kaone's son, Katlo, who lives in a separate home. He'll also get baptized for sure! Photos and Videos from the week: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ RC56qZx7DQdZUTuF6 I procrastinated typing this email, but to keep the 80 week streak alive here we go. Tuesday: The Pule's (district president) came to our flat and fixed our broken sink while we weekly planned. We went out for lunch and then came back home just in time for the water guy to refill our jojo (our water supply). We reviewed the baptismal interview questions with Boipelo and watched a talk from President Nelson. Then we watched the same talk with a Recent Convert named Mpho, near Boipelo. We met with Kelvin and had a good lesson, he always has some very interesting/ funny questions. We visited a few more recent converts and then had a DA with a member. Madombi and beef stew as usual. Wednesday: The ZL's picked us up at 7:00am and we went to Gabs for our Zone conference, all of Botswana was there. The theme was “The Power and Authority of Your Calling”, it was really good and there were many things I learn...

Week #79 This Little Light of Mine...

Image
Hey everyone, hopefully you had a good week?! We had a decent week, nothing too crazy. A lot photos and videos from the week: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ HRpXJo4LTzvfDhVA8 Tuesday: We had a few lessons, a lot of cancellations, and a member meal at sister Teto's. She cooked very good Madombi and beef stew. We got to meet with one of our friends who's on date, Kelvin. He always wants us to have 2 hour lessons with him but we tell him that we have to go see other people. Nakale’s tire popped so he rode on Asi's handlebars the whole evening, it was hilarious! Wednesday: We had about 1 million cancellations today. We'd show up at their house and there would be no one home. We met with a few members and a couple other lessons but today was pretty unproductive. We came home and I cooked some madombi while Nakale cooked chicken, it was nxa. Thursday: We walked in the area today since Nakale's tire was still blown. We taught a handful of lessons and then got rained in at the...

Week #78 Lessons, Laughing And Laws.

Image
Photos and videos from the week: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CWoNqBh2LX2waJ588 We got back very late so here's a highlight or two from each day… Tuesday: Adolphson and Leavitt came over at 6:15am to smash cake in Nakale's face for his B-Day. He was assaulted with a lot of water throughout the day as well. Taught a bunch of lessons and a few games of snooker for his birthday. Wednesday: We taught "obey and honor the law" (one of the principles required before baptism) to one of our friends. Nakale gave the example of drunk driving and something else interesting. He said “when you put something in your shopping cart like chips, but then you no longer want them, don't put them with the bread, make sure you put them back where you got them.” The sisters then asked “if that's really necessary” Asi and I just started dying laughing. We taught a lot of lessons today which was great. One old man told us we were doing a good thing teaching people not to drink and smoke. ...

Week #77 Solid Week!

I got a mission wide devotional any minute now so I'll make this a quick one. Here are a few highlights of the week! I was with lemphane, replacing the vacant ZL position, until transfers (friday) Drove to Lobatse, a nearby village, to drop some BOM's off to the other missionaries Transfer news… I'll be staying with Nakale and Elder Asi will also join us. We'll also be merging his area with ours which should keep us busy. Taught with a lot of recent converts that all stay together in the ZL area I went teaching with Asi for a day while Nakale and Lemphane went together I drove to Gabs with Lemphane to pick up Elder Kapinga and bring him to Kanye to be Elder Lemphane's companion We went to a funeral for a 14 year old boy that Elder Asi was teaching. I think it was my first time at a funeral, at least that I can remember. They asked us to pray over the body so I volunteered Lemphane since he speaks setswana. We race home every night on our bikes, and the hill up to th...
