Yebo

Tuesday:

We started our weekly planning and got halfway through, then the ZL's called and told us we'd be losing the only good part of our area so we had to restart :’( We went from 20 to 4 recent converts and now we're white washing another area :/

We had a good amount of lessons and talked with a drunk guy on the way home that called everything “marvelous” and told us “I love you”. It was very funny.

Came home and honed in the Chess skills before bed. (Any insights/ tips on chess are welcome)

Wednesday:

We had a very brief district council which the AP's joined, they stayed with us Wednesday to Saturday morning.

We had a lot of good lessons today especially with some of our recent converts who seem really cool.

We walked around some police camps for forever trying to find the person we were teaching.

On our 1 hour walk home, we watched some UFO things in the sky that were flying in pairs in a double file line, it was very strange…

Thursday:

Elder Whitworth (AP) joined us for exchanges today. We had 10 lessons which were all chops because they just wanted us to spoon feed them everything without doing anything on their own. This was in a part of our area called Mmamokhasi, it typically is like this.

We did have 1 good lesson with a member family but that was about it.

After one horrible lesson with a bunch of ladies we shook their hands to say goodbye. One of them scratched my palm while doing so, ifykyk 🤢

We came home around 7 and I cooked Chapati and stew while they taught three more lessons over the phone.

Friday:

We had flat inspections at 12:30 so we had to stay at the flat until then. The Kaspers and the Smiths are the best senior couples ever! They even gave us bikes 💪 🚲

There were also some member boys outside clearing the bush in our plot, the district president hired them. But, they were just dancing and using our gym 🏋️‍♂️ (video in link)

We were in the area which we're whitewashing, Lodubeng, and it seems none of the people are really progressing. We're going to create a whole new teaching pool which sucks.

We biked up the huge hill to our flat which gives us a killer pump and then crushed the chicken dinner the senior couples gave us for our flat inspection.

Saturday:

We got up early and went to Lobatse (a nearby village) and did a “revival”. A bunch of us missionaries plus a lot of members went finding in Lobatse for 4 hours and gave all the referrals to the Lobatse Elders. They were struggling in their area but now they have 280 referrals, it was a lot of fun.

We came back to the Kanye chapel and filled the jojo (baptismal font)  for the other elders' baptism tomorrow. Only OG's remember this font.

We went out to our area and taught 4 solid lessons and came home. I love teaching the restoration, it's so powerful when taught with the scriptures!

Sunday:

Church was pretty good, and there was a baptism which always makes it better!

We taught 7 lessons in Mmamokhasi and then came back to the flat with district president Pule to patch our broken jojo (water source). Afterwards, we went back to the area to teach 2 more lessons before coming home for the night.

The lessons in Mmamokhasi were marginally better today.

Monday:

Machisu, Asi’, Nakale, and I went to Gabs for P-Day. We got food, fragrance hunting, haircuts, gear shopping for bikes, and grocery shopping. It was really fun, a lot better than just sleeping all day in Kanye.

We came home and cleaned up the flat a bit.

Spiritual thought:

I'm very tired so this won't be as insightful as I'd hope.

Coming back to my love for the restoration, the introduction of the BoM tells us that it is the Keystone of “our” the LDS religion.

Coming to a knowledge and testimony of the BoM's truth and divinity, only through sincere study and prayer will be the foundation of an unshakable testimony.

In Jeffrey R. Holland's 2005 “safety for the soul” general conference talk he spoke of the importance of the BoM. He stated that for someone to leave, or criticize the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,  they must do so by crawling under, around, or over the BoM (not verbatim).

The beautiful thing about the BoM is that there is nothing that will ever prove or disprove the BoM. It can't be disproved because it is literally the word of God as it proclaims to be. But nothing can prove its divinity lest it destroys the faith required to gain a testimony of it.

It is only through the spirit of truth that we may find the answer to the question stated in Moroni's promise, “is this book not true?”.

Brothers and Sisters, if you have yet to receive a testimony, or find your testimony shaking, I urge you to return to the basics. Daily study within the BoM, always preceded and concluded with a prayer will bring an undeniable spirit confirming its truth and divinity to your heart.

I didn't always know it, but I know it now, the Book of Mormon is true and it has blessed my life immensely. I hope you will allow it to do the same for you.

Love Elder Miller

My new area.
Our "revival" group! It was fun to work hard and find 280 people in Lobatse.
