Week #69 Charity Never Faileth

Sup, I'm tired, let's get started.

Tuesday:

Our week began with distressed friends calling us in the morning crying and in a bad headspace. We rushed over to go calm them down and give them a blessing, I guess missionary work has a much larger job description than I initially anticipated.

We also got to help a man fix his bakkie since it broke down in the rainstorm.

The YSA elders (Karp and Kawuki) came over to play a few games before new years.

Wednesday:

We had MLC at the Walkers home in the morning, it was very insightful and I learned a lot! I also can't complain that they gave us each a whole pizza.

After we returned to our areas I double-covered with Mosweswe (my son) for exchanges, it was a lot of fun. We had a really good lesson with Chaka and he's continuing to progress well!

Thursday:

Today was a perfect day. We had 11 back to back lessons, found 4 people, had 2 lessons with members participating, these are the types of days you pray for!

We got to see some amazing members as well. We rounded off the night by playing games with the boys at our flat, farkle has become the nightly tradition.

Friday:

Our morning began with district council, it went relatively well. We followed it up with a lunch trip to nandos to get some fiesta rolls. I know my emails are often a food blog as much as they are a report of my missionary work, but lemme put you on real quick. Fiesta roll: shredded chicken basted in your selection of sauce (lemon and herb is the best), covered in melted cheese, caramelized onions, warm fries, all between two warm garlic portuguese rolls. Legend has it, there are a few chains in the USA.

Anyways, I spent the rest of the day with a sick elder at the flat so I got to study a lot, sleep, eat, study some more. It was nice.

Saturday:

We began with interviews with President Walker (mission president), those are always an amazing time to get some counsel and wisdom from him. He's a very spiritual and loving old fisherman.

We had a lot of very powerful lessons today with our friends. Having straightforward communication with the Spirit is something that I can see will and is helping our friends a lot.

Sunday:

This was one of the best fast and testimony meetings I've ever been in. I felt the Spirit so strongly from many of the testimonies shared, and a huge sense of joy. One member named Larry, is a very nervous 18 year old boy, but when he came to church this week he was smiling so big and told us he was so happy to be there. He went up and bore his testimony and it was amazing, he was smiling the rest of the service. I love to see the gospel change people and fill them with joy.

We visited a lot of members for the rest of the day, with the Sisters. Including Mowana, the cutest, smartest, 4 year old girl ever.

Monday:

Today we slept, played some games, did small small grocery shopping, had a lesson/ meeting with a member, and had a mission wide devotional over zoom.

The lesson we had with the member was so touching. They opened up about some bumps in their life but were so happy we were there helping them through it. We just tried to show love, support, and genuine concern and I guess it went a long way because he sent us a very large paragraph later that night.

It reminds me of moroni 7:46 - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail

As we share the Love of Christ through our actions and words it will comfort and speak to the hearts of those around us.

Happy new year,

Elder Miller
