Week #52 My New Companion Is A Mermaid

I had a pretty crazy week, with transfers, zone conference, preparing trainings, etc.

Regardless of all that, it was still a pretty fun week!

Tuesday:

Nothing crazy happened today… we taught about 5 lessons. None of them had anything particularly amazing about them but they were good. As usual we had our weekly planning and branch council meeting which took up a lot of time out of our day.

Wednesday:

A bunch of lessons were canceled so we had to revert to my least favorite thing, door to door finding. It also didn't help that it was 31° C. Little did I know that this was only the beginning of Francistown heat. Regardless of all that we were still able to find 2 new people and have 3 lessons so it went well.

We also had transfer news tonight! I'll be staying another transfer here in Gerald and Elder Havea (Tonga) will be replacing Elder Karp. My son, Elder Mosweswe is also opening a new area in Kanye as well as training. He's only been out 4 months which is crazy but it makes me a grandpa which is pretty cool.

Thursday:

We had our final district council with this district. Elder Karp and I were asked to give a training only a couple hours before so we had to waffle something on the spot. We got a district lunch afterwards which was fun and then we started the day.

The best lesson we had today was with our friend Kaona, she's the cousin to Venoliah (RC that helps us a lot). Kaona seems cool and like she definitely has potential to progress.

Friday:

We followed the tradition of going to the Youngs before the transfer. We had a nice breakfast, got some photos, and hit the road.

We met the Serowe elders and the AP’s halfway to Gabs (palapye). We dropped the departing elders off at the bus stop, Serowe went back to Serowe, us and the AP’s talked a little and got some lunch.

Once we arrived in Gerald we taught Mmusi/Bogadi/Boitshepo. Havea convinced Bogadi that he was a mermaid and she was terrified. We all burst out laughing, Havea is probably the funniest missionary in our mission. We had a few more nice lessons to end the night.

Because tomorrow is zone conference we also had Serowe drive up and stay the night at our flat. Ngobi and McCormack are so funny, we stayed up talking much longer than we probably should have but we don't get to see them much so we used our time well.

Saturday:

Zone conference was great and I learned a lot. When Havea and I went up to give our training he said, “Elder Miller is going to give us a great training today”, which everyone thought was hilarious. We only had 20 minutes yesterday evening to prepare so we did our best, I think it turned out OK.

In the middle of the Zone conference we all split up into companionships and went proselyting. We had been signing our testimonies in BOM's since the last zone conference so we went out for an hour and gave them to people. We came back to the chapel afterwards and shared our experiences.

We had to go to Monarch to do an interview for them but while we were there, Elder Sackie told me this sister needed a blessing. We got all prepared and then Elder Sackie asked her what she needed a blessing for and she said to find a husband. I almost burst out laughing right there.

Sunday:

Church went well today and most of our recent converts came to church which was great! We also had a really good lesson with Mmusi/Bogadi/Boitshepo where they shared their testimonies of why they want to be baptized and how they came to know the truth. I hope their mother will let them be baptized!

We also started teaching a grey dot (someone who was previously taught) and she was really cool, her name is Anita. Near the close of the lesson some drunk guy came up and wouldn't stop talking. Havea told him we're commanded not to drink alcohol and he didn't agree so I shared 1 Corinthians 5 with him, he didn't enjoy that.

Our last lesson was with the Louis family, the sisters also joined us and we held an FHE. We played some Uno, talked a bit, and then shared a spiritual thought and had a little discussion, it went very nicely.

Serowe, Francistown 2, and Kerago were all coming to stay at our flat tonight for P-Day so we were running around picking them up. We were also going to all the flats trying to find extra mattresses.

We made a lot of chapati and stew and all feasted. These guys are so funny so we were just laughing the whole night.

Monday:

We ran a lot of people around today so we didn't actually get to the Youngs until about 2:00. We had the usual routine of games, guitar, and some amazing food prepared by the Youngs and the Allens.

We finished the night by teaching a couple lessons, a couple contacts, and a zoom meeting.

Today was also day 365 on the mission but my one year mark isn't until the 18th (wednesday).

Conclusion:

Good job if you made it this far. Have a great week and know that you're all in my prayers!
