Week #37 A Great Week!
Hello everyone! Another week in the books. Let me tell you about it…
Tuesday:
Now that Elder Mathias only has three weeks left in his training we made him call most of our people for weekly planning while we cleaned the kitchen. Some of the highlights of today were when we got to teach a “Former Prophet”, surprisingly he seemed somewhat receptive. Another great lesson that we had was with Rainforce and his wife. He’s the brother that we found from Zimbabwe, we taught him the restoration. He was so receptive and said he already knew it was true. People from Zim are the best.
Wednesday:
My 20th Birthday. Every Wednesday we have a zone exercise over zoom, we got to lead it so that was pretty fun. Our first appointment was a service for a couple we’re teaching. We helped him cut down a big tree in his yard in preparation for building a tuckshop in his yard. Next up was a lesson with a brother who was referred by the sisters. At the end of the lesson he was asking A LOT about the sisters and asking us some wild questions, I won’t divulge much further… We taught a handful of lessons for the rest of the night that all went well. I also locked up one of our friends in Mmhele before our lesson started. Today was a very different but good birthday nonetheless.
Thursday:
We did exchanges today with Elder Law and Were, Law was with me and my children went with Were. Elder Law and I did some finding and found some cool people that used to be taught by missionaries so we introduced ourselves, played a game of crusade (uno with face cards) and set up a time to go meet with them. We got some nice 30Pula plate food from Dimonates and went to our next lesson. It went well but monkeys were fighting all around us and also making love so there were a few distractions. We taught a bunch more lessons and also put two different sisters on date!
Friday:
I got up and started making chocolate cupcakes right away since we had district council in a few hours, Were and Mathias made some chips-Mayai. We had a good DCM and at the end the sisters came out with a homemade cake for my birthday and a watermelon with my name carved on it, it was nxa. We taught a couple lessons and contacts and then got some lunch. Our first lesson after lunch was with a boy named Tlotso, he only speaks Setswana. So, Elder Mosweswe taught the whole Godhead lesson in Setswana, it was very cool! Our last lesson was also very good, we ended up answering a couple of questions about all the temple ordinances but it ended up being around 90 mins!
Saturday:
We had our missionary correlation meeting today with the Elders Quorum President which went well. We impulsively decided on some exchanges. Today I was with Were and Mathias in my area. We taught our friend in the wheelchair again, then we taught the friend whose tree we cut down. Were showed us a nice place to get 35 pula (2 USD) plate food, that is licensed so it’s not bogus, and it was very good. It was also the meal that began our fast so we stuffed ourselves. The rest of our lessons canceled except for the last so we ended up contacting a lot of people in our area as well as Mochudi 2 area. We taught a couple of lessons at the end of the night which went great. When we got home Mosweswe, Law, and I played a game of “SkullKing”. I’m glad to say I rolled both of them and set a high score. (sorry Elder Law if you’re reading this).
Sunday:
We dropped the elders at their friends house and then we whipped it over to our friend Andile’s home. We walked with her, Pauline, and Tlotso. We got 10 friends to church which was so awesome! We walked an hour back to the car and then went home to change/ eat. We stuffed ourselves like it was Thanksgiving and were so tired after. On top of that, every lesson canceled, nevertheless, the work must go on. We contacted people all day and taught one lesson at 8:00pm with a pastor and his family, they’re very cool. Once we arrived home we demolished some more food because we were famished. We had some hilarious conversations in the car today as well, my comps are pretty sick.
Monday:
Woke up this morning and called the fam and then went straight back to bed until like 10:30. I don’t know what was up with the last two days but we were all so tired. Today was a lot of sleeping but we also got some groceries, played some card games and then went out at 6 for a lesson. The lady was crazy drunk when we got there so we contacted her and left. We contacted a few more people and then went back home. We got on our monthly mission wide zoom call which was given by Sister Kasper (senior missionary), it was a great devotional about faith. We also had some closing remarks by our temporary mission president, Chadambuka, as President Walker is in the J-Berg hospital (please keep him in your prayers).
Spiritual Thought:
3 Nephi 17: 21 And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.
God and Jesus Christ love and know each and every one of us. Our trials, strengths, weaknesses, personalities, and everything about us. When we feel like we are alone or don’t have anybody to turn to we always have our father in heaven. I promise of the blessings and comfort that come from daily prayer as I have seen them bless my life as well as those around me and I hope you all take these blessings for yourselves.
Conclusion:
Thank you for making it this far, I hope that it was relatively interesting or you were able to learn something new! As always feel free to message me with any questions that you may have or just to chat (on P-Day). Love and pray for you all, stay strong.
Elder Miller
