Week #66 I'm An Angel.
Hey everyone!
I had a pretty good week with some fun stories.
Our week started by going to our lovely mission president's wife, Sister Walker's, home. It was her birthday so we brought some home baked cinnamon bread from Elder Wutkee. We also found a “real” pizza place this same day that's pretty good.
We also had a rehearsal early in the week to prepare us for our missionary nativity for the stake party on Sunday. I'm playing the Angel Gabriel so that's amazing
We visited the RS president and her husband at their home this week. He's the CEO of Ford (or something like that) over a lot of southern African countries so they're loaded. They fed us some nice food they ordered, combined with Elder Wutkees cake, and a lot of crazy stories from brother Matswagothata about cars. We had a lot of fun and then we closed by talking about some important branch business.
We had a meeting as ZL's, president Walker, and the stake president about Botswana's vision moving forward. There are some great goals and Botswana is getting closer to a temple each day.
Also, a bit of a side note but… Gospel Stream has been playing real Christmas music here and there so we are really enjoying some real music for once. It's been 15 months and I'm dying.
Midway through the week we went to the KFC courts to meet an inactive member and have a lesson, we had a great lesson with him. He was there with his friends including the son of a partially active couple. We played a quick game of 3 vs. 3 with them, all I can say is Elder Wutkee and I cooked.
On the teaching side of things we've had a lot of amazing members join us. Most of the members here are the oldest in Botswana which means the active ones are very knowledgeable, it also means that there are a lot of inactive members that just want to make money (it's also the richest ward).
We tried putting Chaka on date but he says he needs to tell his girlfriend before he commits to a date for baptism. He's awesome and we'll set a date with him soon.
Our friend Hilda, she's the maid for the patriarch, is progressing really well for her baptismal Date of Jan 5th so we're so happy to see that!
‘Asi, Mosweswe, Wutkee, and I all went to an inactive member family's home and had an amazing visit and spiritual thought. I've noticed on mission how kind everyone really is when you just get to know them and take interest in their passions. Talking with inactive members is one of my favorite things about mission for sure!
We had our nativity on sunday, it was good, it kinda turned into a comedy though. The innkeeper (Elder Tchicumbi) and Joseph (Elder Kapinga) had a very funny exchange that made everyone laugh. It was fun. Elder Wutkee and I also spoke at church.
For P-day we just got some haircuts, a little shopping, some games, driving the Zone around, some good food, all wrapped up with a lesson and some errands.
Hopefully that wasn't too long, but if you made it this far, congratulations! Love you all, have a great week!
