Week #60 Rainforce, Root Beer, And Running Stomach.

Hey everyone! It seems like these weeks keep getting faster and faster, I feel like I just wrote my last email. This week had some fun times and finally some not so fun times…

Tuesday:

We ran a couple of errands this morning and then called a lot of people for weekly planning. We're still double-covering between our area and Elder Mathias’ area, it makes the work a little complicated but it's pure comedy working with these two.

We have a greenie (Anderson) staying in our flat who is also sick. So, he can stay with Elder Mathias’ companion, Elder Damms.

We arrived at one of our lessons today but then Machisu demanded that we take an emergency stop to the bush… iykyk. Foreshadowing

Finished the night by making some nice chapati and stew.

Wednesday:

We taught a decent amount of lessons today between the two areas. As usual we also had to run a few errands and also do an interview for one of our zone members friends.

We went to contact a member and see how she was doing and her niece and nephew also happened to be there. We had a nice lesson about the BOM, hopefully we can meet with them again.

Thursday:

Elder Anderson, the sick greenie, wanted to go out today so we took him and left Elder Machisu. We taught a few lessons and then he wasn't feeling well so we swapped him back for Machisu.

We finished the night by meeting with the Eze  family (members). It's funny, it seems like every missionary that I serve around, I get to meet their family on the next transfer because some of them are from Botswana.

We drove halfway to Mochudi, my former area, and swapped for exchanges. I went to Mochudi and Elder Machisu went back to Broadhurst with another Elder.

Friday:

I was with Elder Johnson in Mochudi 1 today. He's only been out for 6 weeks so he's still learning the area but it was nice because since I used to serve here, I knew a lot of people we could go check on.

I also got to join their district council and see some members from mochudi branch, it was really fun. And of course we concluded the DCM with Dimonates, if you remember this place then you're an OG.

We had many good lessons and contacts but my favorite was with Rainforce and Pauline! They are an amazing couple from Zimbabwe that I found while serving in Mochudi. They're doing great and are planning on getting married in the next few weeks which means they'll be able to be baptized. We were all so happy to see each other, they're doing great!

Saturday:

Eish…

I woke up at around 5:00 with a running stomach and vomiting so that was amazing. I knew I wouldn't make it out of the flat today so we ended the exchange a day early.

After swapping back into our companionships I went home and slept the whole day.

Today was pretty bogus, officially my first sick day on mission.

Sunday:

I was still feeling a little sick today so Damms, Anderson, and I (the sick elders) went to sacrament and then came back home. After resting for a bit I went out with Mathias and Machisu to teach. Mathias wasn't feeling well part way through the day, so we ran home to grab some stuff for him and then went back out.

We had a few good lessons today and then finished the night with a nice Sunday night zone prayer.

Monday:

I went and played some ball with some missionaries at the KFC courts (bball courts made/ sponsored by KFC) in the morning. We all went home and cleaned up and then met for lunch/dinner which was good.

We ended the night by teaching a member lesson With the sisters and then heading home.

Spiritual Thought:

The Church of Jesus Christ is known as a church that emphasizes making covenants with God.

  • Dallin H Oaks

As we make, keep, and hold out faithful to our covenants we will be able to come closer to our Heavenly Father. When we make these special “promises” with Him we are able to receive not only an increase of love and responsibility, but a special covenant love that he has for us.

I can testify of the blessings and the joy that comes into our lives as we make and keep sacred covenants with our Father in Heaven. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Conclusion:

Love y'all, have a good week! <3

I love serving with Elder Machisu and Elder Matias. We have served together before and they are amazing.

FINALLY. I have been craving root beer since I started my mission.

HUGE blessing getting to spend time with Rainforce and Pauline again. They have incredible faith.

Laundry day!
