Week #30 Working Away In Kanye

Hello everyone! This week was a pretty quick week but it was a good one. Nothing crazy to report but we'll get into it anyway…

Tuesday:

As usual our Tuesday began with weekly planning which takes like 3 hours. It involves calling like a million people. While we did that we alternated with each other between calling people and building a Star Wars Lego Christmas advent calendar (I just received my Christmas package which has been in the office). It was pretty hype, we finished the whole thing.

A bit later in the day, we were going to a lesson and the dirt road was looking a bit suspect.

*side note, they dig massive trenches here for construction and then leave them for weeks even months. Hence the mud.

We tried to make it through and got the car stuck in the mud. After digging, and putting rocks and logs under the tires, nothing was working. We called the ZL's to come get us so they could tow us. Elder Kelley was grabbed and kissed by a drunk kuku (grandma) while he was driving, it was hilarious.

We taught a bunch of lessons for the rest of the day so it was a pretty decent day.

Wednesday:

It's getting cold in the mornings here which is nice. I practiced some Setswana words at lunch time but it's not the easiest language. Today was a very plain day and nothing crazy happened but we got 8 lessons so that was good.

Thursday:

We had our district council this morning at the chapel, it's always fun to see the other missionaries in our district. We transported some water for service today and we got 6 lessons. We also went to the China shops today… they sell a lot of weapons that you couldn't buy in Canada that's fs

Friday:

The highlight of today was that we got 10 lessons! It was super fun and kept us very busy. Elder Kivuva even went and did a baptismal interview for a friend that the other elders are teaching, so we got a lot done today!

Saturday:

We joined Elders Mirah and Wutkee for some yard work service for a friend they're teaching. We cleaned it up pretty quickly but it's always fun to have a switch up in the week from spiritual work to physical work.

Sunday:

We had to go with the branch elders to one of their friends at 7am for an interview before their baptism today. We watched the Sunday afternoon session of General Conference at church and it was really nice! After church we had a baptismal service for 5 people. Only one of them is someone we taught (Gift), the others are friends of the other elders. We didn't get too much work done today since we only started at 3 due to baptisms and church.

Monday:

All the Elders (10 of us) went to the bball courts at the police camps this morning. We played soccer and then some ball. It was really fun but I'm way outta shape since I haven't played sports in 6 months.

We all went grocery shopping after and then some of us went back to the branch/Kanye East elder's flat. I finished pouring the other half of my cement barbell with Wutkee and Adolphson so it should be set by next p day. Kivuva and I came back to our flat after and chilled for a bit.

At 6 we went out and met with a few of our friends and then came back for the night.

Spiritual thought:

I'd like to share a quote that I love from the Sunday afternoon session of General Conference.

“We can rest assured that our difficulties, sorrows, afflictions, and pains do not define us; rather, it is how we go about them that will help us grow and draw closer to God. It is our attitudes and choices that define us much better than our challenges.”

Mathias Held

Conclusion:

Like I said, this week wasn't anything crazy. However, we were able to hit most of our goals and keep busy which was great! Hopefully next week I can have some more adventures to share with you all but I appreciate y'all for tuning in. I hope that you have a great week ahead and you're able to come closer to our Savior Jesus Christ.

I appreciate everything each of you do for me
