Week #14 Christmas Cow Tongue

Image
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas this year and were able to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and his life. This year has allowed me to focus much more on the true meaning of Christmas. It's been an amazing opportunity free of the distractions and noise that follow Christmas and made it much easier to grow my testimony of Jesus Christ. Not to say I don't love the distractions and noise surrounding Christmas of course. Many of you know it's my favorite holiday. But it's been a refreshing change-up. Anyway, I wish you all a very merry Christmas again and hope you had time to visit with family and celebrate together. A Brief Summary: This week started out with a drive from Windhoek to Swakopmund. The Zone leaders came with us (Elder Gibbs and Elder Otema) so it was a fun drive. They stayed from Wednesday until Friday morning to mix companionships for a few days to freshen things up. These are called "exchanges" for those of you who don...

Week #13 Twas The Week Before Christmas

Image
Twas the week before Christmas and all through the flat, not a creature was stirring not even a roach.  To be honest the mission already has me forgetting the rest of that story so that's all we'll get for this week. However, that's most likely for the best. This week has been amazing, hectic, festive, and new.  Our week started out by contacting all of the friends that the Sisters were teaching, as they are no longer in Swakopmund. It has at least doubled our work load so it's been a little hectic but very fun. Once we got into the swing of things and caught our bearings we were scheduling lessons every 30 minutes. From 11am-8:30pm we had a lesson every 30 minutes so we were all over Swak. It was the most fun I've had teaching since beginning my mission. The time truly flies when you get to teach so many people. Midway through the week we were going to visit a member at her home which is connected to a bar. In the sheet metal house villages, there are a lot of bars...

Week #12 Lone Missionaries In Swakopmund

Image
I'm writing this email 10 minutes before curfew so this week will be very short. A few highlights this week: We put our friend Ishuna who's been coming to church every week on date to be baptised for the 27th of January! I gave a talk on baptismal covenants. It was my third talk ever. One when I was like 10, my farewell talk, and now this talk. Today we dropped the sisters off at the airport so now we're all alone in Swakopmund Elder Tolbert split his pants What would one of my emails be without a food update?  I've been enjoying Pap a lot more lately. We revisited the donut shop. And we've made dozens of cookies this week. Two more p-days till Christmas!! P-day will be on Tuesday next week.  I hope you're all doing well and I love you all so much.  A quick testimony about mission work.  The mission has been the most testimony-strengthening, faith-building, and influential experience of my life thus far. It has been incredibly difficult but an amazing decision. ...

Week #11 It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Tuesday: This week started out with a lot of lessons so that was really good. We met that amazing family of 6 I've been talking about and extended an invitation to be baptized and asked them to pray about it. I'll keep you updated. Wednesday: We wanted to get more lessons with members this week as a goal so we met up with our friend Johana for 6 lessons back to back today. She's preparing for her mission and has already received her call to Ghana so she's very excited. Turns out every lesson fell through so we ended up doing a lot of finding with her, so at least she knows how to find now haha. Bit of a long day today but still found some new friends so it was good nonetheless. We met with a couple of prospective/ preparing missionaries in our ward today, Sigfried and Queeny. We met all together and introduced ourselves and what we like to do etc etc. and then of course shared a short spiritual message. We've met with them a few more times since and they seem really...
